Same way all #IndieWeb tools are built, someone has a personal goal for their site and they build it, then someone else wants it, then someone else wants. Isn’t thatthe same? If I need something to work for me, I go out and find something that works for someone else and repurpose. I read an article by @DHH the other day that shifted some of my thinking about how some of the pieces might work out with regard to commercialization.
At the same time, innovations along the lines of what micro.blog is doing are very important.
