Personally, I found micro.blog to be an echo chamber of silicon valley programmers types — dev geeks everywhere who dislike Facebook and Twitter. The same old the same old, different name.

It is a silo albeit one that is popular with the people who dislike the Twitter silo. If you are not hosting your blog on micro.blog, I think it is no different than Twitter. Just with a smaller and less diverse community, less functionality and less useful. It is not nearly as diverse or as useful as it gets credit for. More hype than substance.
