Watched Period. End of Sentence. (2018) from Netflix
Directed by Rayka Zehtabchi. With Ajeya, Anita, Gouri Choudari, Shabana Khan. Indian women fight the stigma surrounding menstruation and begin manufacturing sanitary pads.

An interesting, short documentary. It’s hard to believe how taboo periods can be in other countries.

I desperately wish they could have at least found some Indians from that province who speak English to have done the dub (or done subtitles). The overly-bright non-actor English dub was just too out of place for me given the demeanor of the people in the piece.

I’m honestly not sure what it says about the state of documentary films that this won an Oscar this year. I can only think that it’s an issue of distribution in attempting to qualify that must narrow the field so much.
