The Autonomie theme had been displaying duplicate status updates on my site recently. A quick re-install of the most-up-to-date theme package seems to have fixed everything.
I know you’ve recently set up your new site, so I thought I’d mention it so you don’t waste time trying to track down the bug, which will hopefully clear up with a refresh of the theme files.
I’ll also mention in passing that your menu bar has two “About Me” links (likely introduced because you’re using your about me as your home page–this happened to me a year ago or so), and you’ve left a “Sample Page” published, so that is also hiding in your menu bar as well.
Thanks. I was unaware of the bug, so good catch. I’ll definitely refresh those files! And thanks for reminding me about that sample page. I meant to clear that one out. Whoops? I was wondering why I was getting two pages for the home page. That happened on my community site, as well, for some odd reason.
The two pages for the home typically happens because the WordPress default for creating new pages adds them to your menu structure automatically so that new users aren’t creating pages that are “orphaned” or which can’t be navigated to from elsewhere within a site. It’s likely that you created the About me page and then changed from your stream/blog on your front page to using a static front page with that same About me. Not knowing that it’s already in the menu structure, WordPress just changes the home link to the new static page thereby duplicating it. I think I’ve done something like that about a dozen times. I suppose it’s better having it there twice than not having it at all…
The double content in Autonomie thing might be my fault… I noticed an issue in the search page, when using Post Kinds, which in turn led to a change in when Post Kinds applies filters, breaking the previous integration with Autonomie. Using the latest version of the theme from GitHub includes the necessary fix for it.
(Sorry for the inconvenience, everyone!)
Ah that makes sense. No problem at all Chris McL and thanks for linking to the fix. Well spotted Chris A, hope this is of some help to Katherine as well. Love using the Autonomie theme so glad that normal service has resumed!
