I tried the Overdrive app for ebooks from our local library. Literally couldn't find a single title that wasn't wait-listed. I'll look again next summer (outside of snowbird season) but, for now... paper books from the library and purchase ebooks only when I travel.
Some people get around this by have a dozen or more library cards as well as other hacks. Many systems don’t require you to live in their district to check out ebooks.
