Since I can post to my website by pen and paper with OCR’d photos, I realize I should use a similar workflow to post handwritten zettels to my [[Obsidian]]-based [[zettelkasten]]/[[commonplace book]] too!

As neat as my cursive handwriting may be, the OCR admittedly doesn’t like it very much, so print will win the day on future posts.

For OCR and other purposes, there are far better ways than cursive to write by hand: https://archive.nytimes.com/www.nytimes.com/interactive/2009/09/04/opinion/20090908_opart.html?_r=0, http://HandwritingSuccess.com, https://sites.google.com/view/briem/handwriting?authuser=0, http://BFHhandwriting.com, and http://italic-handwriting.org

Thanks. I’ve got a reasonable background in paleography, so I’ve got a few different hands I can use, and a dozen others that are even worse. If you’re into nerding out on the history for fun, you should check out https://schoenberginstitute.org/coffee-with-a-codex/

@chrisaldrich I like that idea. What OCR software are you using?
@chrwahl I’ll post about the steps of the method shortly, but any photos in Google Drive opened up in Google Docs will create a document with the photo and transcribe the OCR’d text below it. It was solid enough that it included the partial “Dia” of the word Diamond visible in tiny print on the cap of my pen.
