Looking for a home on Mastodon? Try @KevinMarks Mastoview tool to get a peek at what’s happening on various servers:
@warner Maybe @KevinMarks can tweak that? The tool has been around for a long time and the product has evolved a lot since then. Surely Eugen is running a higher version, though depending on how this is built, Eugen’s server may require an authenticated user to be able to access data on its timeline?
@chrisaldrich@warner It’s running on an old version of python on an old version of appengine, so it may creak a bit – it is working for mastodon.social now; maybe it timed out due to load (it caches the last good response it gets).
I’m less inclined to reimplement it now as you con go to servername/public now and get a useful view by default. eg mastodon.social/publicmastodon.social/public/local mastodon.social/explore (the local one timed out for me initially, so maybe it has similar load issues)

@chrisaldrich unfortunately it’s barely functional: it doesn’t even preview Eugen’s own Mastodon.Social
