Los Angeles Area Typewriter Repair Shops
I’d recommend checking out the following shops/repair joints in the Los Angeles area that specialize in typewriters. Most will let you try out the touch and feel of a few in person to figure out what might work best for you. Putting your hands on actual machines will help you know which one you’ll want for yourself. Most carry typewriter ribbons and accessories as well as parts.
For many shops, you’re best off calling ahead and checking hours and availability before heading over.

Bob Marshall and the crew at Typewriter Muse provide service, restoration, and sales. They’ve usually got 20-30 typewriters cleaned up and ready for sale in their showroom. They also offer classes and typing space in their writing room at the front of the shop. They’re one of the few shops that provide platen recovery services on site.
Other repair shops
Outside of the Los Angeles area, you can find a list of other repair shops at https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/tw-repair.html.
