Acquired Star Wars Origami: 36 Amazing Paper-Folding Projects from a Galaxy Far, Far Away... by Chris Alexander (Workman Publishing)

Kids love origami--and what could be cooler than transforming a piece of paper into Boba Fett, Princess Leia, Yoda, or R2-D2? And not just any paper, but custom-designed paper illustrated with art from the movies. Star Wars(R) Origami marries the fun of paper folding with the obsession of Star Wars. Like The Joy of Origami and Origami on the Go, this book puts an original spin on an ancient art. And like Star Wars(R) Scanimation(R) and Star Wars(R) Fandex(R), it's a fresh take on Star Wars mania.

Chris Alexander is a master folder and founder of the popular website StarWarsOrigami.com, and here are 36 models, clearly explained, that range in difficulty from Youngling (easy) to Padawan (medium), Jedi Knight (difficult), and Jedi Master (tricky!). A front section introduces origami definitions and basic folds. Bound in the back is the book's unique folding paper, two sheets for each figure. Illustrated with original art, it makes each creation--the essential lightsabers, the Death Star, and much more--true to the movies.

Star Wars Origami includes a foreword by Tom Angleberger, author of the New York Times bestsellers The Strange Case of Origami Yoda and Darth Paper Strikes Back, and is scheduled to be published at the same time as Angleberger's upcoming book, The Secret of the Fortune Wookiee.

Bookmarked Boba Fett by Chloe Weil (chloeweil.com)
Hello to all! I crocheted a tiny-ass Boba Fett as a gift. I don’t know who Boba Fett is, but everyone keeps telling me he’s a pretty cool bad guy! The only Star Wars movie I’ve ever seen was The Phantom Menace. My dad dragged my ass to it when it came out and I fell asleep in a theat...
This reminds me of lots of Baby Yodas I’ve seen everywhere. I need to stop at the craft store to try my hand out at making something along these lines with Evie, who would be a fun craft partner.

Also reminds me that I ought to finally get around to learning how to knit.

Watched The Entire Emperor Palpatine Story Explained from YouTube

The Emperor has long loomed over the Star Wars saga. Sometimes, he’s manipulated events from the shadows. Other times, he’s stepped onto the screen and shocked audiences with his crazy powers. From his days as an apprentice to his appearance in Episode IX, here’s the entire Emperor Palpatine story.

Sheev Palpatine, the man who would become a Sith Lord and the galactic emperor, was born on the planet Naboo. According to the novel Darth Plagueis, young Palpatine first discovered the temptation of the Dark Side of the Force while collecting Sith artifacts. As a young man he met Plagueis. The encounter led Palpatine to kill his entire family and dedicate himself to becoming Darth Plagueis' Sith apprentice. As a result, Plagueis gave him the name of Darth Sidious.

Like Plagueis before him, Sidious carefully maintained his non-Sith identity as Sheev Palpatine, and he became active in politics on Naboo. He rose in rank to become a senator after secretly arranging the assassination of his predecessor, representing Naboo in the Galactic Senate. He remained in that position for years, methodically working to accumulate more power, gaining strength both politically and in the Dark Side.

Spoiler warning if you haven’t seen all the movies yet.

🎞 Watched Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Watched Rogue One: A Star Wars Story from Walt Disney Studios, December 16, 2016
Directed by Gareth Edwards. With Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen. The Rebel Alliance makes a risky move to steal the plans for the Death Star, setting up the epic saga to follow.
Some good entertainment all around, but not as gripping as past installments. Definitely worth the trip to see it on the big screen though.

The Tarkin CGId character was a bit distracting, but not so terrible because of the dim lighting in most of his scenes. His eyes never seemed to connect with his interlocutors which was annoying. He wasn’t as horrible as the Leia CGI character which went deep down into the uncanny valley in large part because of both the close up as well as the bright lighting.

The casting for the older characters from Chapter IV was reasonably good otherwise. The comedic conceit for the robot stole the entire show. I also wish there’d been more of Mads Mikkelsen who is just awesome in almost everything he does.

After a bunch of skin-of-the-teeth escapes throughout the movie, I am left wondering why the lead characters are left to fate at the end. Was it just to completely leave no thought of additional sequels for them?
