Treat Facebook as the private walled garden that it is. If you want something to be publicly accessible, post it to a real blog on any platform that embraces the real web, the open one.
Content that isn’t indexable by search engines is not part of the open web.
Its a nice pithy slogan but the issue is more complex. Grubber links to pay-walled content, regurgitates things from private conversations, ect. I don’t think everything on the open web needs to be public and/or free.
Asher Silberman, I’ll agree that it doesn’t need to be public and/or free, but people certainly need better and more flexible options. Most just take what they’re served in the cafeteria line not knowing there’s a gourmet restaurant available next door.
