I just downloaded my copy of Bob Doto’s book A System for Writing which was released for purchase this morning. I read an early draft in April and know it’s excellent. If knowledge management, zettelkasten, or writing are of interest to you, this is one of the best books on these topics. If you’re just getting into these areas, it’s required reading and will advance your practice more quickly than any four other books you’ll find.

Very much looking forward to reading this. I’ve ordered the dead-tree version: I enjoy reading on my Kindle, but I make better notes when I read proper books.
@chrisaldrich I just purchased the paperback version myself. Should be here tomorrow. I’ve always thought Bob does a great job explaining this stuff.
Thanks for the kind word, Chris. So glad you liked it.
I noticed last night that boffosocko.com is literally the last word in the e-book. Did you do this on purpose?!? Whether or not you did, I appreciate it. 😉
It wasn’t intentional, but was happy to see it happen that way. Hope you enjoyed the “official” read-through.
Dan Allosso’s (Obsidisan) Book Club will be reading Bob Doto‘s book A System for Writing (2024) as their next selection. Discussion meetings are via Zoom for 2 hours on Saturdays starting on 2024-10-19 to 11-02 from 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM Pacific. New comers and veterans are all welcome to attend.
The book is broken up into 3 parts (approximately 50-75 pages each) and we’ll discuss each on succeeding weeks. The group has several inveterate note takers who are well-acquainted with Zettelkasten methods.
If you’d like access to the Obsidian vault, please email danallosso at icloud dot com with your preferred email address to connect to the Dropbox repository.
DM either Dan or myself for the Zoom link for the video meetings.
Very much enjoyed this book. Didn’t get an awful lot out of it personally, as the system Doto explains already closely matches the one I had evolved over time. But, as I say in my review, I wish I’d read this book a few years ago, when I was first embarking on my digital Zettelkasten… It would have save me an awful lot of time.
