The Central Dogma of Molecular Biology The central dogma of molecular biology deals with the detailed residue-by-residue transfer of sequential information. It states that information cannot be transferred back from protein to either protein or nucleic acid. Francis Crick, OM, FRS (1916 – 2004), a British molecular biologist, biophysicist, and neuroscientist first articulated in 1958 and restated in August 1970 “Central dogma of molecular biology.” Nature 227 (5258): 561-3.
