Watched Late Night (2019) from Amazon Prime

Directed by Nisha Ganatra. With Emma Thompson, Mindy Kaling, John Lithgow, Hugh Dancy. A late night talk show host suspects that she may soon lose her long-running show.

Well plotted with some excellent characters. Perhaps not as funny as I might have wanted, but they did have a handful of long play jokes that they set up from the first act that came back to land reasonably well.

Watched How a Bible prophecy shapes Trump's foreign policy from Vox | YouTube

For an influential group of American Christians, support for Israel -- and hatred of Iran -- are based in a biblical prophecy.

When President Trump authorized the drone strike that killed the powerful Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, he wasn't just flexing America's muscle in the Middle East.

He was also acting on the advice of a politically powerful group of evangelical Christians who believe that the US and Israel are part of the Bible's plan to bring about the second coming of Jesus.

Once considered a fringe element of the religious right, evangelical Christian Zionists are playing an increasingly visible role in Republican politics. Today, unprecedented access to the Trump administration has given them an opportunity to reshape the Middle East.

A previous version of this video misstated, at 1:40, the percentage of Americans who are Christian but neither Evangelical nor Catholic. The error has been corrected.

There’s religion, and then there’s just crazy pants.
Watched Hitch (2005) from Netflix

Directed by Andy Tennant. With Will Smith, Eva Mendes, Kevin James, Amber Valletta. While helping his latest client woo the woman of his dreams, a professional "date doctor" finds that his game doesn't quite work on the gossip columnist with whom he's smitten.

Watched Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983) from Disney+

Directed by Richard Marquand. With Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams. After a daring mission to rescue Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt, the Rebels dispatch to Endor to destroy the second Death Star. Meanwhile, Luke struggles to help Darth Vader back from the dark side without falling into the Emperor's trap.

Continuing the series in chronological order. Saw this with the monkey tonight. Surprised that she wasn’t scared at all by it.

Something that I noticed on this screening that I hadn’t before: In Empire, Leia tells Han, “I love you,” and he replies, “I know.” At the end of this episode when threatened with death, he tells her “I love you,” and she replies, “I know.” The parallelism of this is subtle but fantastic!

Watched Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) from Netflix

After the Rebels are brutally overpowered by the Empire on the ice planet Hoth, Luke Skywalker begins Jedi training with Yoda, while his friends are pursued by Darth Vader and a bounty hunter named Boba Fett all over the galaxy.

This one really holds up pretty well. Watched it with the monkey for the first time.

I’m not sure I quite got the shorter version that aired during the Super Bowl.

I do quite like their tagline here of “A website makes it real”.
