The Christmas tree was becoming too dry, so I took it down on Wednesday. I boxed up the rest of the decorations late this morning/early this afternoon.

My poor little website passed 23,000 comments/replies/reactions yesterday. This is in tremendous part due to webmentions and the ability to collect the conversation about my content across social spaces.
I’m wondering when comments will pass the number of posts (currently 27,648)?
Manually installing Omnibear into my Firefox browser.
It took a bit of moving data, extensions, and other details over, but I’ve now made the switch to Firefox as my default browser. Sweeping Chrome into the dustbin.
Made an apple pie. It came together pretty quickly. I feel like I can almost make these in my sleep now.
In the last 20 minutes it’s started to rain heavily and there’s an unusual amount of thunder and lightening. Our scaredy-cat German shepherd Lily has managed to limbo her way underneath our new bed to hide from the onslaught.
It’s annoyed me a bit since I did it, so I’ve finally gotten around to changing my username on micro.blog from @c to @chrisaldrich. This brings my identity there in line with much of the rest of my digital accounts which have the same username/handle/screen name.
I still have control of the separate @c account, but don’t plan on posting there actively. Maybe I’ll use it with another site?
Doing some more web site administration. Deleted 14 plugins that I either haven’t been using, no longer use regularly, or no longer need. Feels nice to clean house a bit.
I wasn’t seeing it before, but after upgrading to All in One SEO to 4.0.9 from 3.7ish, the Twitter plugin was throwing in some Twitter card metacrap that was causing a conflict. I’ve turned off the Twitter plugin which shouldn’t affect much since I wasn’t really using much of it’s additional functionality.
Hooray for one less plugin in the stack!
And just like that the episode of West Wing I was watching on Netflix ended and it wouldn’t play the next one. Fortunately I can skip over to HBO Max, and there’s the entire series, so I can keep watching from there. 🎉

I just ran across Contently, a silo-based service specifically made for journalists, freelancers, and writers to aggregate their content into a portfolio as well as to help them with their careers. An intriguing concept that can use some additional UI research for integrating into an author platform.

I’ve come to the realization that one of my favorite (and most used) social feed readers is the IndieWeb Chat. I discover so many interesting people and so much great content there.
Trying a slightly different method for cross posting from my website to Mastodon. If it works properly I’ll also see my website name as the posting client!
